What 3mpwr Means: The Philosophy Behind Our Name
Names are statements of intent. When we named this platform, we did not hire a brand naming consultant. We asked the community what they wanted it to represent — and the conversation shaped everything.
“3mpwr” came from a community discussion about what kind of empowerment we were actually building toward. Not self-help empowerment. Not the kind that says “you have the power within you” and leaves you to navigate a hostile insurance system alone. Collective, structural empowerment.
The three in “3mpwr” maps onto three pillars: tools for the individual, tools for community connection, and tools for systemic change. Everything in the app fits one of those three categories. The overlap between them is where the real power is.
The Principles
- “3mpwr” = Empower — the 3 represents three pillars: Individual, Community, Systemic
- Individual pillar: Evidence Locker, Letter Generator, Symptom Tracker, Benefits Navigator
- Community pillar: Forums, Peer Support, Virtual Meetups, Mutual Aid
- Systemic pillar: Campaign Coordination, Advocacy Resources, Policy Explainer
- The name was chosen by the community — not by a brand consultant
In Action
- Personal tools address immediate, individual needs in the disability system
- Community tools create the social infrastructure that makes isolation survivable
- Systemic tools connect individual experiences to collective political action
Why It Matters
- Why the app has features that seem very different from each other — they serve three distinct pillars
- Community naming is a form of ownership — this platform belongs to its users
- The three pillars ensure we never mistake individual coping for justice
3mpwrApp is built on these principles — and built for and with the people who need them most.
